IN THE CLASSROOM

engage | connect | empower

Elementary education students work hard to set up new room structures for better learning space. While creating interactive games to encourage positive learning. During the last trip, some students had to opportunity to teach and assist in the elementary and high school English classes. This provided a chance for the Ecuadorian students to practice their English from native English speakers and gain confidence with their language skills along with new games and activities in physical education classes.

Many of the classrooms are short on materials and are only able to teach lessons out of textbooks, by putting Education majors into these classes allowed them to collaborate with the teachers and come up with innovative and fun ways to engage the children more while using the materials they have.

One of the great things that came out of this was a pen pal program, in which the Ecuadorian students can write and send letters to students of the same age in Rhode Island!
